NJ Media Works

Yes, there's a real person here.

You're not being handed off to a dashboard.

NJ Media Works is a boutique studio, not an agency and definitely not a website factory. It exists because there's a strange gap in the market: small businesses can either spend fifteen thousand dollars on an agency engagement, or spend their own evenings wrestling a drag-and-drop builder into something almost acceptable.

Neither one produces what most independent businesses actually need — a professional website designed around the real business, and someone dependable to look after it.

Design has been my work for more than twenty years: brand systems, marketing, print, digital products, package design, physical product design, commercial photography and photography direction, and a great many websites. Modern tools have made the production side dramatically faster. They have not made taste, judgment, or listening obsolete.

So the tools handle the speed. I handle the decisions.

Boutique by design. On purpose. The client list stays small—it turns out it's easier to care about the details when you actually know whose details they are.

The short version of the philosophy

Technology makes it faster. Experience makes it better. You get both.

How the work actually gets made.

01

A person makes the decisions

Tools can generate a layout. They can't tell whether it's the right one for your business. Every hierarchy, every headline, every crop is a judgment call made by someone who has been making them for two decades.

02

Clarity beats cleverness

A website's job is to help someone understand what you do and take the next step. Personality is welcome. Confusion is not. If a beautiful idea gets in the way of that, the beautiful idea loses.

03

No hostage situations

Managed clients own the website after six paid months. Website-only clients own it from day one. Your domain, content, photography, and accounts are always yours. Stay because it's working.

04

You get a reply from a human

No ticket queue, no offshore rotation, no account manager relaying messages. You email, a person who knows your business answers.

WHAT LED ME HERE.

I've spent most of my life making things—and learning how the pieces fit together. I studied art, photography and business, with time in Florence and Puebla, and have worked across design, photography and creative technology for more than 20 years.

My experience in landscape design, food systems and ecological restoration shapes the way I approach design today. It taught me to see things as interconnected systems—to consider not only how something looks, but how it functions within the whole.

That thinking followed me into years of working with startups, nonprofits and founder-led businesses across design, marketing, brand development, business development and project management. I became the person people relied on to wrangle the ideas, find what mattered and build a structure around it.

“A website isn't a collection of pages. A brand isn't a logo. Marketing isn't a bunch of posts. They're parts of an ecosystem—and the work gets better when they actually make sense together.”

That's what good design means to me now: finding the essence within the complexity and building something clear, functional and sustainably simple.

No more. No less.

The work beside the work

My fine art practice explores something similar from a different angle: process, presence, and the raw experience of being through photography and poetry.
